About Us

Who We Are

Four Mothers Collective is a community-based arts organization led by Indigenous women in Tulsa, located on Mvskoke Nation.
We support Indigenous artists through exhibitions, workshops, mentorship, cultural education, and community-centered gatherings.
Our focus is on connection, to one another, to land, and to the long line of knowledge we carry.

Our Values

  • Cultural Sovereignty – We create from our own stories, standards, and teachings.

  • Reciprocal Care – We prioritize community wellbeing and mutual support.

  • Access + Representation – Indigenous artists deserve visible, dignified space to create and be seen.

  • Intergenerational Learning – We learn from our elders, teachers, peers, and youth.

Our Story

Four Mothers Collective was founded in 2021 as a grassroots art collective led by Indigenous women. We were created to address the lack of representation, resources, and support available to BIPOC women, girls, and Two-Spirit artists. Many artists in our communities face barriers to materials, professional development, and spaces to share their work. Four Mothers Collective was built to change that.

Located in the Mvskoke Nation, our collective provides a welcoming space where BIPOC artists can express themselves, learn, and grow. Inspired by the strength and guidance of our matriarchs, we work to uplift cultural expression, intergenerational learning, and artist empowerment.

Our mission is to provide creative supplies, workshops, classes, exhibitions, and mentorship opportunities that support Indigenous and BIPOC artists in building confidence, skills, and creative careers. Through community events, artist support programs, and youth arts programming, we help artists reclaim space in the art world and celebrate the stories that shape us.

Four Mothers Collective continues to grow through partnerships with local organizations, universities, museums, and national collaborators. Today, our work includes a nationally traveling art exhibition, expanded youth programming, and ongoing community partnerships that honor and amplify Indigenous creativity.

Community Partnerships

Four Mothers Collective grows through relationships. We collaborate with organizations that share our values of cultural care, community empowerment, and creative access. These partnerships help us offer more programs, support more artists, and deepen our impact across the region. We believe in working together to build strong, healthy, and culturally grounded futures for our communities.
